Weekend highlights

Dominik Nitsche wins two in one weekend: Without a doubt, the highlight run of the weekend belongs to Dominik “Bounatirou” Nitsche. The German reg, who is currently playing out of the UK, took down the KO Week special edition Saturday KO for $24,779 ($16k coming from bounties). Later that night, he also came second in the $530 Daily Supersonic for $3.9k. Not satisfied with his success, Dominik Nitsche was back the next evening and claimed first place in the $1,050 Sunday Supersonic for $23,569. There’s a reason why Nitsche has won $7.6 million from online tourneys and $16.6 million from live tourneys – and this weekend he demonstrated it with clarity.

Dominik Nitsche has earned millions both online and live

Tough Sunday Warm-Up results in heads-up deal: The $1,050 Sunday Warm-Up is persistently tough. Every week, top pros line up en masse to take this one down. This weekend, as is often the case, there wasn’t a single soft spot left on the final table. Emerging as leaders of the pack, Simon “C. Darwin2” Mattsson of Sweden and Ronan “Sw33ney” Sweeney of the UK, both highly successful players at the top of their games, opted for the deal heads-up. Mattsson finished second, earning slightly more due to the stack sizes at the time of the chop, $16,201. Sweeney came first for $15,877. But on a final table as tough as that, bragging rights more than make up for the extra few hundred dollars.

Mattsson and Sweeney make a deal in the HRC Sunday Warm-Up

Best of the rest from High Roller Club: The top three players made a deal in this week’s $1,050 Sunday HR. Following the deal, “elmerixx” and Samuel “€urop€an” Vousden, both from Finland, came third and second, respectively, and both earned close to $29k in prizes. Canada’s Guillaume “Nolet20” Nolet, who’s top results include a third place finish in the WCOOP 2020 Main Event worth over $1.2 million, finished first and pocketed $35,429. Elsewhere, “CrazyLissy” of Russia beat Sam “SamSquid” Grafton heads-up in the $530 Sunday Marathon for $7,612, and “x_zola25” of Denmark won the $1,050 Sunday Cooldown for $21,894.

KO Week takes over: A mini-series appeared on the schedule last week, appealing to player’s love of the PKO format. Aside from Nitsche’s victory and Lex’s Day 2 run, several other players also earned significant scores on the final weekend of KO Week. “felipe52” of Brazil took down the 55: $55 PKO Turbo for $16.360, “realsuhisjii” of Finland earned $42,504 in the 56: $215 PKO Sunday Warm-Up, and “Alina.som” of Russia won Women’s Sunday for $1,500. “Man.utd85” of Russia satellited into event 57 for $2.85 and went on to win $26,262 – more than 9,000 times the cost of their entry.

PKO Sunday Million winner takes nearly $100k: This weekend’s Sunday Million was a special edition PKO tourney as part of KO Week. The prize pool reached over $1.1 million and play, as is typical of the weekly event, ran into Day 2. “ImNotYoBro” of Ukraine came second in the Sunday Million for a total of $70,172. “SolvaySBS69” of Belgium claimed the final bounty and earned a total of $97,084.

Feature table – $5k Titans

An excellent run for Lex in the $5k Titans

This weekend’s $5k Titans high roller event was also a PKO edition as part of KO Week. Team Pro player and Twitch streamer Lex Veldhuis delighted viewers with his exciting run. The Dutch pro has a decent stack with nine players remaining, and has already accumulated $10k in bounties by the end of Day 1.

An excellent bunch of high rollers returned for the final table on Day 2. “kylix42” of Brazil had the chip lead at the break, eventually finishing fifth for $37k total. Christian “eisenhower1” Jeppsson fell in eighth place, yet a solid performance earned him $18.9k in bounties along with his prize money.

Lex didn’t earn any more bounties on Day 2, but did manage to sustain his stack long enough to lock up fourth place and a total of $43,352 in winnings. “DingeBrinker” of Estonia came third and Casimir “Ceis25” Seire of Brazil second.

“serggorelyi7” of Russia topped the Titans and earned the lion’s share of the bounties – $95k on top of the prize money for first – making a total of $159,006.
